Jumble of June

This past month has flown by. Perhaps it's the momentum of having a baby in the house now, but it feels like it went faster than ever. Dante is officially crawling, as well as pulling up on things now. We finally decided to lower the crib floor, so that when he stands up and starts bouncing, he doesn't launch himself over the railing. Earlier this month he had pink eye, in the exact week Casey got a stye. I managed to remain fully sighted, but now, a few weeks later, my eye has begun twitching. Casey thinks I'm being a hypochondriac and my condition is entirely psychosomatic. She's probably right.

In terms of our future, we have been stressing out about figuring that out. We've thought about scouring the web, etc, for ministerial/missional positions. However, we first talked to our mentors (which, I highly recommend doing with any major life issue.) They were extremely helpful, as always. They related a story about their son and daughter in law, who were intending to be missionaries in Central Asia. Well, that fell through, and they became distraught and didn't know what to do. So, they didn't. As in, they just were. They took a year or so to just learn to be a post-college, pre-outreach, family. Then, they served just over 10 years in Europe, and now are working as senders of missionaries, back here in the USA. The moral of the story is our mentors recommended we take a similar step, and just learn to be a family. A post-college, mid-adoption, pre-outreach, family. We've spoken to another one of the ministers at the church, and he agreed.

So, we're just here, in Joplin. We aren't sure how long we'll be here. We don't know what's next. We don't know if global outreach will be next, or if something statewide will be. We don't know if it will be full time ministry, or if it will be alongside a vocation. What we do know is that we are just (re)learning how to be a family, before whatever adventure God takes us on next. We appreciate all your support and love, especially those of you who have expressed interest in our updates, even if it doesn't involve a direct outreach possibility at the time.
Grace and Peace,
