Everything in our lives seems to get rescheduled. Our wedding (though, that was in a good way), internships, and now, the adoption hearing. We had travelled up to St Louis for our Sept 21 hearing, but 30 minutes before it was supposed to happen our lawyer gave us a call. He said the guardian ad litem (basically, a court appointed mediator for Dante) had to leave town unexpectedly. On top of that, it seems like we will have to do have a home study done after all. Initially we were under the impression that as we are first level relatives, no home study would be needed. As of right now we don't know how much this will cost or how long it will take, but we know God will provide (money and patience).
In other news, there will be a storytelling seminar this fall that we're hoping to attend. In our PACT internship, we had begun learning about the use of storytelling in evangelism. This will allow us to continue that training even though we won't be doing another internship until God knows when. I'm not sure the costs or specifics yet (it's going to be in November), but if you live in/near Joplin, I'd encourage you to try to attend.
Dante will be one year old this week! He is growing incredibly fast, including taking his first steps and testing out his vocal cords. His asthma is almost non-existent now as is his eczema. Thank you all for your prayers the last six months that have definitely helped with his (and our) development.
We'll be travelling this coming weekend as well, this time to Texas and New Mexico. In Texas we'll spread my grammie's ashes on her farm, and then in New Mexico we'll spend some time with friends and family. We'll be attending the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and it will be Casey and Dante's first time. Hopefully the weather will be cooperative.
As soon as we have any new info, we'll let you know!
Grace and Peace
